What is an endowed scholarship, and what impact does it have on students?

Endowed scholarships at LeTourneau University prove to be lasting investments in students’ lives and their future. They differ from one-time gifts in that the principal of an endowment remains untouched – only a portion of its investment income is awarded each year. In short, what is referred to as a “spending policy” on the part of the University ensures that your unique Fund continues to grow in its impact for generations to come.

In summary, these Scholarships support deserving students in pursuing a Christ-centered, hands-on education - equipping them to live out their calling as salt and light in the world! Each unique Fund plays a crucial role in making education accessible at LeTourneau University. With more than 90 percent of students receiving financial aid, these scholarships help recognize academic excellence, retain future leaders, and meet financial needs, all while advancing the mission of the University.

Endowments 101

Can I create my own unique Endowment? Yes, you can, and as we say, we “make it easy”. Simply reach out to us to request the approved template for this, where you will find two brief sections for you to complete, or speak into. The first is to specify the type of student you wish to assist (largely, what major you might want to serve). The second area is “freeform” for you, where you can cite your motivation for entering into this, and what your unique story is – how the Lord has led in your life and what He has done before you.

Current Endowments

With respect to current endowments, there are numerous such agreements in place, for which we are so very thankful! Each agreement is subject to the same protocol, that the University Financial Aid Team of the University adheres to – where recipients are assured to have met the unique criteria in any given agreement, and in those cases where indicated, where financial need is deemed to be present. While we welcome new endowments from you, particularly where you want to honor someone dear to you, there might be an existing agreement that might meet your criteria – where you could simply add to it. A list of our existing agreements are listed here to follow.
